The next new Focus comic art camp project will start Jan 11th at 2pm in Phoenix.
We will teach our students how to make bowls that resemble zombie brains using clay and the Brent Extruder.
It will be a two part class. The class taking place on the 11th January will focus on using the Brent Extruder HD and hand building techniques. There will be a separate date where the kids will come back to the studio to paint their art. The rationale for why the class has to be divided into two class dates, is because we need to fire the projects in the kiln before they can be painted. If we do not fire the clay sculptures, the clay will crumble. We will announce the painting class date in due course.
Registration is now open for this new class.
The duration of the class will be approximately 1 hour depending on the student’s pace of work.
Douglas Hebert, Professional Sculptor; Head artist and art internship coach for Focus comic will be teaching with Yvonne Wan, creator of Focus comic. Art Teaching Intern Jo Perry will also join us with Crystal Perry who is our Teaching Assistant. There will be 4 staff available to assist the kids with their projects.
All art materials will be supplied free of charge to students with autism. The firing of the projects will be free to. Complimentary drinks and snacks will be included.
Class starts at 2pm.
Completed projects will be photographed professionally in a photo booth so the kids can be proud of their art. Free photography and filming of the class will be provided courtesy of Yvonne Wan, the sole creator of Focus comic.
Autistic kids attending the art camp for the first time will receive a special gift bag upon completion of their first project.
Registration in advance is required so we can plan the correct resources per student. Your place in class is only secured when Yvonne confirms it in writing.
